Today we drove the rest of the way home, and contemplated our past week; the good, the bad, and the knowledge gained.
Scholar: As I'm writing this (to be posted later this evening), we are in a car, almost to Georgia again. Last night, I did not die of lung cancer. There was a motorcycle gang with 40+ people at our hotel this morning, which was cool. But this post isn't really about what happened today, but rather about the best (and worst!) things about the past week, and what we've learned (if anything).

Washington DC Trip: Day 7
Today we: went to the National American Indian Museum and the National Air and Space Museum, before leaving Washington DC.
Hello friends Padawan here. Today we went to the air and space museum and stuff. Now we are watching Monty python the holy grail. I'm tired and pooped so I don't have much to say. Good bye metromen. LUV YA~<3
LOVE PADAWAN!
Cat Nip: Well, the American Indian thing was strange. I loved the air and space museum because I love airplanes. I was yawning all day and I got a little rialed up at dinner. But I calmed down after a movie of El Dorado.
Meow,
Cat Nip
Doll again
I am so happy to have visited the native american museum today. It was amazing! I was so inspired by their determination, creativity, and faith. Beautiful people. Air and space was next. Padawan was done with looking at "stuff" and, having been in A&S two other times in my life, I will admit that this is a museum that I will not go out of my way to visit in the future. I love flying, but there is too much going on there! The American indian museum was so peaceful and well thought out. So we are on our way home. Great trip! And my feet didn't hurt today! I wore my sandals and my feet thank me! The morning started off with sleepy girls but we were ahead of schedule. That was a first! I had a Bison Burger for lunch - another first! Fry bread with honey and cinnamon. Yup! Another first!
I could tell Padawan & Cat Nip were missing home when they began telling Scholar stories about their pets.
Lacrosse - we wish you had joined us!
Doll out.
Scholar: Today did not feel like the last day of our trip. It makes me kind of sad, since this was something we've worked for for 5 years and its already over. Tears. After the Spy Museum, the American Indian Museum is my favorite, and I would've done a lot more reading in each exhibit if I had not been so rushed. Everything was really interesting. For lunch, we ate at the cafeteria there, which was the best cafeteria I've ever been to. They had Native American foods from different regions (I got an Indian Taco, which was dry bread with bison chili, lettuce, tomatoes and onions in it), and everything I put in my mouth was good. Fry bread is my new favorite thing, it tastes so good and if you get me some I will love you forever. The Air and Space Museum was super busy. Now we're on the road, heading back home, watching various movies and falling asleep in the car. When we got to the hotel (a few minutes before I post this blog) we discovered it reeks of cigarettes in the hallway and some other smell (cigars??) in our room. It's sickening. I hope I can get some sleep and won't die of lung cancer.
Raccoon Killer: Yes, it is hard to believe it was the last day of our long awaited Washington DC trip. Five years in the making with Fall Product sales, Cookie Sales, one yard Sale and 2 Car Washes that that only got us $39.00 total. Any way we had more than enough for this trip. At the American-Indian Museum, they told you to start on the 4th (top) floor and work your way down. The top floor had a lot of videos of animated stories. Very good! Some parts were a little depressing because of all the exhibits about the Indian Removal/ Trail of Tears, etc. Their Cafe was good but expensive. The gift show had a lot of cool items. But no patches. I asked about them and the lady said, "No, we don't but we keep asking them for some." I was in shock. Really, No Patches?" After lunch we went to the Air & Space Museum. I was only there for about an hour and that was in the gift shop getting patches for the girls and figuring out what to get my boys. I have bad feeling about that museum from the time I was last there when I was 15. I refused to walk around it again. So, instead, I went down a few blocks to the African Art Museum to track down some elephant bookends. I had seen some orange ones at the Smithsonian Castle on Monday when we took a break from riding bikes. The worker there told me there were red and blue at the African Art Museum. They did not have blue. So I bought the red pair. made out of Soap Stone and very heavy. I also went through the Divine Comedy exhibit that Samantha, Julia, & Megan saw on Monday. I asked if they had patches. They also said, "No, we don't." Are you thinking what I am thinking? Discrimination or double standard? Both the African Art Museum and the American Indian Museum does not have patches like other Smithsonian Museums. Makes you wonder. After that we got back on the Metro for the last time. We made it just before rush hour! We did not want to do the cattle shut into a sardine can again. We ate supper to give the traffic time to clear out before we headed to South Hill, VA for the night. I drove a little over 3 hours to get there because of stop and go traffic outside of DC for no apparent reason.
Lacrosse, you missed a great trip!

Washington Trip: Pictures Set 2
Yay, more pictures! They're all jumbled. Still haven't figured out how to rotate stuff. Also, they are not ordered by date. It's all pretty random, I hope the captions help. But anyway. Here are more pictures. Scholar out.
Washington DC Trip: Day 6
Today we went to the Natural History Smithsonian Museum and the American History Smithsonian Museum.
CITRUS: alright so you know how people always boast about how they stayed up late as kids and like NEVER slept. yes well that is a lie. all of it. there is no honor of staying up. nor is there any energy or love, just hate filled sadness and regretting everything in your life. you are all of a sudden thinking about quitting everything that involves opening your eyes because you are too dang tired. this is how i felt this morning and this feeling has not stopped. and it gets worse:

Washington DC Trip: Day 5
Today we: visited the Capitol, Arlington Cemetery, (almost, but not quite) the Library of Congress, and the Vietnam Memorial.
Scholar: I would like to start by pointing out that it is 11:16 pm here. I will try and get photos up, but...knowing all of us, it will take an hour + to get this up, so no promises. I will try though, even if it's tomorrow morning. Anyway. So this morning after breakfast, we went to the House of Representatives building, because Rob Woodall's (the person representing Georgia) office arranged a tour for us, which is awesome.

Washington DC Trip: Day 3
The general plan for the day: ride bikes around the Mall, see assorted memorials and monuments, etc.
Scholar: Hello. If I said today was fabulous, amazing, and beautiful in every way imaginable, with unicorns jumping over rainbows and what not, I would be lying, for an assortment of reasons. We have both literally and figuratively gone to hell, and back.

Washington DC Trip: Day 2 Pictures
First full day!
A combination of pictures from today (June 7th) and yesterday in no particular order. I'm still figuring out this whole Blogger thing, so among the things I haven't figured out yet: 1) pictures that start of small, but you can click on them to enlarge them, and how to rotate them. So, until I can figure that out, just turn your head all funny and squint. Apologia, and enjoy. Scholar out.
Washington DC Trip: Day 2
First Full Day in DC!
Doll: I will blog first because I was too tired to do anything last night. Wow! What a day! Big adventure into DC with lots of exciting twists. Citrus will let you know about some of that later.

Washington DC Trip: Day 1
We Arrived In DC!
We've finally made it: five years of freezing at Cookie Booths, selling fall products, garage sales, and car washes (that went bust) has finally paid off, and we are in Washington DC for the next several days. Later on this week (tomorrow? two days from now? no one knows...) we'll get some pictures up and the blog will become even fancier. Everyone's tired right now, and we don't particularly want to try and figure all this technology yet.
Our nicknames are: The Padawan (Megan R.), Citrus (Taylor L.), W!erd0 (Julia R.), and Scholar (Samantha S.). Our troop leaders are: Raccoon-Killer (Deanna S.), and Doll (Barbie R.).
Here are accounts of our day:
