Today we: visited the Capitol, Arlington Cemetery, (almost, but not quite) the Library of Congress, and the Vietnam Memorial.
Scholar: I would like to start by pointing out that it is 11:16 pm here. I will try and get photos up, but...knowing all of us, it will take an hour + to get this up, so no promises. I will try though, even if it's tomorrow morning. Anyway. So this morning after breakfast, we went to the House of Representatives building, because Rob Woodall's (the person representing Georgia) office arranged a tour for us, which is awesome.
The tour guide (Anne? I'm not good with names, and I only heard it once) actually used to be a Girl Scout, and did her Gold Award. She did a great job at showing us everything around the Capital; unfortunately, the dome is for repairs right now so we didn't get to see all of it. We learned a lot of cool facts, and saw some pretty awesome statues (my favorite was of the three women and the uncarved rock in the Rotunda; I don't remember the name of the statue). We also did not get to see Rob Woodall himself (not for a lack of trying), although there is a possibility that we will arrange for a meeting with him later. To be determined. We had lunch at the Dirksen Senate Office Building. Arlington Cemetery is beautiful, and the changing of the guards was quite interesting. After dinner, we separated into two groups (Doll, Catnip, and Padawan didn't want to see the Library of Congress, so we split into two groups. Alas, we were too late, and the library was closed. We walked to the Vietnam Memorial, which was not as lighted as we expected. And then we rented a taxi to get to the closest metro, since we were tired, and rode back. I am proud of myself; despite having two bloody noses, I did not get any blood on my white girl scout shirt.
Padawan's feet are hurting enough that she decided she would not come upstairs to our room (we had to rent two rooms) to post her stuff on the blog. She wishes everyone well. - Scholar.
Doll: I have discovered the true limit of pain in the feet and the power to work through that pain for a good cause. The tour of the Capitol Building was a true gem. I had no idea the capitol could be so interesting. Our tour guide, Anna, was really good at her job. She gave lots of tidbits of info and I personally loved the architecture, sculptures, and paintings. Truly exceptional! Arlington was a great tour, especially because we were able to see so much of it and not add to the pain in the feet. We purchased shuttle tour tickets and rode through the cemetery. All in all, despite our schedule being off a little, we had a pretty good day. Looking forward to tomorrow when we will visit Natural History Museum (my personal favorite) and enjoy more fabulous weather. The only thing I don't look forward to is the fact that my feet will hurt MORE than today. Uhhhh! I don't like feet very much now! Lacrosse - we wish you were here! Doll out.
Cat Nip: [What I am about to say are on neutral terms and I am not favoring this man, so Trevor, don't get mad] I sat behind a adorable man and I started to do some strange things behind him. To be honest, he looked like Jany's brother, Daniel. Anyways! My feet hurt a little... but I am okay. The tour was a lot of fun. I liked the acoustic of the hall thingy. And I organized some gift shop magnets. Oh, my memory is pretty bad. I cant remember much more than that. "Gosh, you-! It was literally today!" Yea, I know, I know. I noticed that everyone has used my back as a pillow. I don't know why, but they have. *Spins around again* Metal detectors always go off when I go though them. They must be picking up on my metal BALLS! HAHAHAHAHa no. Sooooooo, off to RP.
Meow,
Cat Nip
CITRUS: LETS TALK ABOUT PAIN: no but really though i dont know what or who decided that anybody should every have to suffer walking or riding as much as we do but omg i can vouch for myself and my feet that death might be a bit less painful haha or maybe just a hot tub :) today was pretty crazy because at first it was nice and chill like we didnt really absolutely need to be anywhere until like 1100 or something so me and scholar hung out and got kicked out by RK and thus we proceeded to annoy the others at second breakfast. tomorrows going to suck so much i mean i have blisters everywhere which, to my understanding as of today, is not normal. so this will hurt, this brings us back to the pain. EVERYTHING HURTS. that is all on the pain subject. now about this guy on the metro, i dont know who you are but you are a beautiful man and wowie like wow you are pretty. in other news my feet are killing me, also, im in pain, anyway, we went to see the capitol today which was pretty cool haha WAY BIIIGGG but cool. not to complain (im totally complaining) i didnt find this very interesting) i mean i like hanging out with my peoples but not like this.... i dont know if you guys know but the uniform we had to wear today sucked. i mean it was kakies with white t-shirt and since mine was see thru i had to wear a tank top which made me hotter than any human ever needs to be. also we went to the cemetery today and THAT WAS COOL i do recommend to anyone who visits her to go and see. there were headstone upon headstones truly it was moving. hahah we also went to union station for dinner and ive decided i truly love union station. i just really love big cities :) also RK almost made me pee myself because of her jokes hahah i mean they were really funny today for some reason..... thats not like her hmmm.... she might kill me for that. ( no no ur jokes are funny i promise i mean i find everything funny soo...) anyhow we wound up at the Vietnam memorial which is also cool but i recommend going during the day and taking a taxi (did i mention my feet hurt)( also shout-out to RK for getting a taxi( YOU ROCK!!) also another shout out to the person who let us use the bathroom at the metro today, you are a fine person :P well, that was basically my day haha loves to you all

Raccoon Killer: Another GREAT day in Washington, D.C. I did not have to use my whistle once. We had a slow start since out Capital tour did not start until 11:30. Rob Woodall's office offered us a Capital Tour since we did not get a White House Tour. It was a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. The Rotunda, the Statuary Hall, & the Crypt where very beautiful. Very nice. Very busy. We had lunch at the Dirksen Senate Office Building. The 16 oz. Diet Coke was only $1.65. I guess the Senator's & staff don't get the tourist price (See June 7). Next we went to Arlington National Cemetery. It was beautiful. It was late afternoon with a nice breeze blowing. We did splurge on trolley tour tickets around Arlington. It was worth it. The changing of the guard was AWESOME to watch. We also watched them change out the wreath twice. Out next stop was Union Station to eat dinner. Citrus, Scholor, & myself went on to the Library of Congress. The Jefferson Building was closed for an event. Then we went on to see the Vietnam War Memorial. We had heard it was lit up at night and very spectacular. It wasn't very well lit up if you ask me. We should have gone to it when we rode bikes around the other memorials on Monday. We didn't do it then because we where going tonight. Since our feet were hurting and 10:00 at night, I decided we would hail a cab to the closet Metro Station. It cost $8.23 for 3 people to go about 2 miles. A bit much I thought but worth it. Julia did go GAGA over a guy sitting in front of her but behind me. Picture might make it onto the blog later.
Yoooooo I'd like a peek of this eye candy, I mean, my Bro is pretty attractive and Julia appreciates his asthetic so this guy must be a fine peice of stranger. Course, looks aren't all that matter, and he's a person so I don't wanna treat him like a peice of meat to gawk at butt (I'm curiouusss). And Beanpole, I'm sure your bea would understand lol. And I'm sad that your feet hurt you poor babs D: hopefully you won't have to walk so much tomorrow...remember to rub those feet before bed and put on good socks and walking shoes. I've made the mistake of wearing flats on one of our DC trips and it's a memory I don't want to relive. Julia babeeee, you're very comfortable and a great cuddler it's no wonder people have taken the opportunity of resting on your back
ReplyDeleteme: *is jelous* *squints at others in suspicion and overprotectiveness* hissssssss
